Work Opportunities

Here's a view of volunteer work opportunities that are ripe for the doing.  This weekend (26th, 27th) is forecast to be rainy, so we're not calling for a workday... at least not this weekend.

This list also doesn't include moving a boat or two down to the water; floating one last dock section (and bringing up the picnic table) and other sorts of chores that anyone may be shanghaied into doing when you come to row.

  • If anyone has a cordless leaf blower (and I know someone does, but can't remember who)-- the red buds are done falling from the trees and it would be nice to blow/sweep them out of the grooves on the dock.
  • The long trailer has all been prepped and painted with one coat, meaning it is ready for a one-day, quick-prep, complete second coat. This will give us a chance to make the fenders gray and chose a less horrible color for the floor.
  • Access to the weird metal frame in the woods is still good for a couple of weeks-- cordless angle grinders and poison ivy protection needed.
  • We have a small trash pile of demolition materials (old wood) forming-- any Holyoke residents who can donate one or more of their refuse passes...?
  • Shoveling:  dirt on the ramp, it's clear enough, but there is still dirt on top of pavement; and the western edge of the parking lot-- before we stack pallets, dock sections, flotation, and this and that, we could/should uncover as much pavement there as well.
  • The smallest item on my list is about the forsythia that is easy to identify at the moment along the western side of the boathouse and lot, I think it would be nice to nurture these by cutting away some of the prickery stuff and maybe even pinning some branches down to help it spread. A border of forsythia would be nicer than the current border of grapevine, and prickers.
